Thumbs up

Hi Folks,

i've got a little problem, which shouldn't be too hard to figure out for you guys...

I am using openSuse 10.2 and i've opened a port in the Firewall Config in Yast (YAST -> Security -> Firewall). I selected the Port 8080 beside the opening for HTTP and SSH.

Is there now a way to be sure that the port 8080 is really opened? My network admin says, that port 8080 is opened in the global-firewall (not this one) for me, but i can't access the 8080 port...80 (HTTP) is working fine. But before I call the network admin again, i want to be sure, that the port 8080 is really opened...you know?

Are there ways to check an open port on a local openSuse System? I've checked it from the outside but without success...

Thanks...

make sure you have nmap installed, then open a console & try this

nmap -sT -O localhost

should tell you what ports are open
