hello everyone...is it possible to secure the folders inside the "home" folder...

like home->cost, technical

home->technical->folder a

could i out some password on a folder so that when a user opens it he/she would be asked to input the password...cause i know you could just adjust the "Permissions" which is the read, write, and execute...thank you all

Guess the easiest way of the top of my head would be to make root own it or another user with a unique group.

You wouldn't get prompted but only they could see it, I just did it with a folder and root open up file manager browse to the file change owner and group to root.

You maybe able to create a user without a home then you could su owner

Then perhaps you would be able to manipulate the folder, though just trying I found some apps lacking. Perhaps it'll give you something to work with.

How about encrypting it? Kgpg will prompt for the password every time anyone, including root, attempts to open it.

I think truecrypt runs on linux, try googling that and downloading it. I hear nothing but great things about it if you don't like gpg.

I would say that easiest way would be....
right click on the folder select "Actions" and then "Archive & Encrypt Folder"

if you never done it before, you will be asked to configure KGpg.
