Whenever I invoke YaST, I am asked for the root password. An option therein is to "Keep password". The purpose of that option, I do not understand. Keep it for what? As soon as I exit from YaST and try to re-invoke it, I will be asked for the password once more. If I have YaST running and I then invoke YaST Online Update from SuSEwatcher, I am asked again for the root password. What is the benefit of "Keep password"?

The only benefit is to improve your aiming skills with the mouse or your tab and spacebar speed.
Don't worry it's solved in 10.2 (and 10.1 AFAICR) by taking out the option to keep passwd.

I, on the other hand, miss having the keep password option, especially when opening File manager in Super User mode. Since it keeps password for a short while you can close and open YaST and File Manager with out the constant re-entry of Root Password.

So as a advance in the newer versions I am against the progress.
