When I open up YAST, and type "root" password, it gives "error." I then enter my "user" password, and all it well.

To be sure I wasn't going crazy, I typed "su -" at the prompt, I entered "root" password, and it let me login as root. Why has this changed!? This is very weird.

Go to YaST > Software Management. Change filter from search to patterns click on kde base system then go to the window listing the files and right click go down to all in this list and select update if newer version available. It seems that some kde files are updating and others aren't. It only affects the kde base packages only for some reason.

Post back and tell us if this solves your problem.

what repos do I need? I have an update mirror that was added automatically when I clicked on "online update configuration." Will it do?
