I have a new HP laptop and have installed SUSE Linux for the first time. When the system boots, it momentarily displays a login prompt in a console, then brings up the GUI and automatically logs me in. I would like to get a login/password window.

I have messed with the security settings to try to fix it. Now if I log out without rebooting, I do need to log back in. But still no initial login window.

It is Suse 10.1. The two users (root and an ordinary user) have passwords.

Thanks for any ideas.
