Hi,

I have a dual boot system Windows XP/SuSeLinux 10.3/2.6.22.17-0.1 x86_64 on a Acer Aspire 5520,

The Windows XP keeps it's MAC address, however the SuSE installation gets a new MAC address
every time I re-boot. I have an nVidia motherboard and drivers(forcedeth). I got the wireless working with
ndiswrapper... however "somebody" accessed/hacked my network through the wireless connection
and got into my SuSe installation...

I changed my wireless/wired router and applied every possible security measures, one of them was fixed MAC addresses...

I changed the /etc/udev/rules/70-persistent-net.rules to bind only to eth0...ant try to force it to bind to ATTR{address)== <fixed MAC address> however a new MAC address is being generated... I also re-named
the 75-persistent-net-generator.rules file ... the only thing is left to put in a new startup file in /etc/init.d/ where I need to force an ifconfig MAC address...

Is there any other solution to this ? in SuSeLinux ??
