I am new to Linux and have installed SuSE 10.3 on an old PC (About 7 years old. Gigabyte 7VT mother board, Duron 1200 MHz processor and 640 MB of RAM).

My problem is that when I use the internet web pages either don't load at all (The connection times out) or load incompletely. I also had problems connectiong to the repositories when installing. At first I used the on board netowrk interface and then I fitted a PCI card and re-installed SuSE from scratch. Unfortunately I discovered both NICs are a RealTek RT 8139 which doesn't help me find out if it is a driver issue. This computer was accessing the internet fine under Windows 2000 (Which I wiped when installing Linux).

I have no problem accessing the web based configuration of my router (Addon ARM 8100). I have used a static IP address as that is how all the other computers on my network are configured, but I have tried dynamic as well.

I have tried re-installing Linux from scratch and I have tried disabling TCP window scaling, which I read about on this site as a cause of the problem I am having.

Any help would be very much appreciated as I really want to start using SuSE with the internet.

Might try disabling IPv6 and see if that helps. YaST>Network Devices>Network card -Edit its a option during setup.
