Hello everyone..

I am having problem with a network card installed on my system. I was wondering if I could use a windows vista 64 bit driver for my suse 10.3 64 bit. OS ? It is 2.6.22.5-31-default. If it is possible could I be guided how to do that ??

Thanks for any possible help.

you can use ndiswrapper to do this. you need 2 files, 1 is the actual driver which is a .inf file, and 2 .sys files. you need to copy these to any directory in your home. for a good howto on ndiswrapper take a look here...

http://stuntmanandy.no-ip.biz/Howto%27s.html

just scroll down till you find the ndiswrapper bit.

but the error you had...kernel device not present, i'm not too sure if it'll work, but def worth a try yes.

hope this helps.

I have been going through the net trying to find an answer to my problem. I have noticed people have not very good views about the 64 bit. system as for a posibitity of snags, bugs unexplained situations etc. Do you think I am also a victim to a 64 bit system.. But over all I think the future for is a 64 bit.

i have heard problems with 64bit, but as far as i am led to believe suse 11 (due in mid june) 64bit will be much better. i don't think your wifi problem is just the 64bit problem. if you can find the drivers for your card, upgrade your kernel, install ndiswrapper and your wifi drivers for your card, it should work. don't think 64bit or 32bit would make much difference in your case. just my humble opinion.
