i started Suse Initial Configuration swat from http://www.tweakhound.com/linux/samba/page_3.htm
i opened Konqueror .. In the address bar type localhost:901 and press the Enter key.
In the resulting screen enter your root name and password and click OK
says to Click on the Globals icon but i have no globals icon
and dont have the button to commit changes i only have a reset button

how do i add a global icon and add a commit button . i cant commit my changes??

thanks

Can you post a grab of the swat page?

[EDIT] Out of curiousity, I tried to load SWAT in konqeuror and it really doesn't like it.
Try firefox and http://localhost:901

[EDITEDIT] For some reason konq doesn't like http://localhost:901 but seems to work okay on localhost:901 (which it resolves to http://~machine_name:901/ but does display globals and "commit changes" okay here)

here is what i get for icons, no global icon and no commit change button
i can get to globals without the icon by typing localhost:901/globals
but i dont know how to commit changes without the commit changes button

on firefox the same thing no global icon and no commit change button just a reset button

Well, you blcked out the user name - but I guess it isn't root or any user that is permitted to change the settings, so it'd be pointless for the page to put a button there for you to commit changes if the user you logged in as isn't allowed to.

Logged is as a regular user ...

[attachmentid=2364]

... and as root

[attachmentid=2365]

yeah i just found that out
''Full control off SWAT is only given if you logon as root, otherwise functionality will be limited! A normal user only get the buttons: Home, Status, View and Password. The root users also gets the buttons to manage shares''

i confused what to use to logon as root.. i tried what iv been using to open up a terminal but that doesnt work.. i tired the user i added to get into suse from windows and still no go..
i even tried my username netbios name and some passwords

got it.. i guess you use root and password

thanks all

thanks

Not sure what you mean?

Any user, running any browser from any machine and typing the swat/samba host machine's root username and password will get full access.

Small point - could you post replies after the last post rather than edit an earlier post - it don't half get annoying watching a thread for a period waiting to see if you get a response only to find some while later that the reply was backwards in the thread.

[EDIT] and you edited out the original question that I responded to, so the quoted part seems not to be a quote at all and my reply no longer makes any contextual sense.
