Hi I am quite new in SuSE.
I am using SuSE 10.3 (64-bit) on Core2 Duo (E4500), M/B: MSI 945GCM5 built-in NIC: RTL8111b.

From same m/c, I can access Internet via Windows OS. But not from SuSE.
* NIC configed with real IP, proper subnet, gw and dns. ping replies for loopback but not for other address/url.
* firewall turned off.

Any solution or hints... plz.

never used static ip, but try switching to traditional method with ifup, you might want to give knetwork manager a try. in the module name under the hardware tab is that driver listed there (rtl...)?

I identified the prob by myself. The RTL8111b driver provided on SuSE 10.3 is DEFECTIVE.
I tried with an old 3COM NIC, everything works fine. Just wasted 2 daz !!!

Mmm I hope I'm really, really wrong but from the sounds of things you need the r1000 now I'm not sure if this is in the default kernel.

http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/index.ph...=36365&st=0 it wasn't last post last year, I'm still looking.

Perhaps check with modprobe -l | grep r1000

I'm still googling hopefully you won't have to go through all that

Edit
Hehehe.. Glad you solved it the other one doesn't look quite as easy.
