Greetings - I have been using Linux for about one month...enough to get myself into trouble.
I have successfully created several Samba shares that I can see on my OpenSUSE machine, and I can get to them via smb://server/share in Konqueror / Nautilus. Similarly, shares and printers on my OpenSUSE machine can be seen by other Window$ and Linux computers on my LAN. I would like to mount these share on my OpenSUSE machine so I can access them like regular folders. I created appropriate directory names, changed file permissions, and added the following line to /etc/fstab: //server/share /mount/point smbfs username=myname, user,rw 0 0 I get the error message 'smbfs not a recognized file type'. What am I missing? Thanks...Richard |

YaST > System Services (Runlevel) shows that nmb and smb are installed and enabled, while smbfs is installed and enabled, but has the asterisk (*) indicating that it is not working. If I select it and click "Enable", an info/dialog pops up saying: /etc/init.d/smbfs start returned 6 (program is not configured): It's enabled for runlevels 3 and 5... Thanks again - Richard Quote:
