Hi,

Im new to this so bare with me. I have searched endlessly to try and resolve this on my own, put am gonna have to ask for help.

Ive just installed suse on a laptop that is also running xp. when in xp i can connect to my work network and access the internet throught the http proxy no problem.

I have all the details needed to connect to the internet in suse, and to me they look like they are in the right place (ive entered the same IP address, gateway, proxy, workgroup etc from xp and transferred them across to suse). However every time i start firefox or konqueror i get the error message (unknown proxy host, proxy.MYWORK.local).

When i type in "smb:/" i can see a load of other computer workgroups so i must be connected to the network,

I just cant work out why it wont go to the proxy host. By the way, suse firewall is OFF

If anyone can make any sense of this mess, id greatly appreciate it

Thanks

FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank god for that. was driving me insane. For some reason it wasnt liking me putting the proxy in as http://proxy.mywork.local. It wanted it as 192.169.xxx.xxx.

Anyone know why, id be interested to know

Thanks
