ARCHIVES - Multimedia Don't know how to watch DVDs using mplayer? Asking yourself what the heck mplayer is? This is the right place to ask.

So yet another interesting Flash error... It seems that I have a flash player that works sometimes, and greys out other time. For example, I can watch youtube with no issues. But Hulu.com just greys out. The video is playing (I know this because I can hear the audio), but nothing is showing up. This seems to be pointing to some kind of a render issue perhaps?

Firefox 2.0.0.14 (64bit), Flash 9.0.124.0, GTK2 and -32 extensions (latest version)

Apparently Ubuntu 8.04 isn't having this issue, so i'm wondering what is going on here that's different. It's not just a KDE vs. Gnome thing on the surface (i'm running in gnome right now, and was in KDE earlier). It doesn't appear to be a multiple flash issue, I can open 10+ youtube flash videos and run them all with no crashing. So i'm starting to think that it's something to do with hulu's layering/coding? Advanced code that's just not carrying over correctly in GTK maybe?

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum!

I am not on my openSUSE box right now, but I just confirmed that hulu.com does play in Linux Mint 5 Beta 2 running GNOME and using Firefox 3.0 RC 1. I just wanted to share my observation with you.

In your openSUSE machine, have you installed the Packman multimedia codecs? That is the first thing I would check - especially for updates. Good luck.
