after a quick look through kmix i can't see that it can be done. basically i want to see if i can increase/decrease bass/treble etc. i only need it for the earphone port on laptop, the laptop speakers are rubbish, but for earphone port it would be nice to edit this is possible. after all i spent about £300 on earphones, it's a shame not to be able to edit these settings to get more out of them through laptop (i can do all this on my nice old iriver h140 mp3 player, why i much prefer over any ipod - far more customisable)
any help would be appreciated. cheers, Ross. |

I don't know the specific answer, but I do know of some possibilities that you could investigate.
Jack. I think if you install the "jack" sound layer (on top of alsa) it will provide the equalizer functionality you are looking for (it will also install a layer of complexity that I do not like): Jack: http://jackaudio.org/ Applications that work with Jack: http://jackaudio.org/applications Packman packaged version of Jack: http://packman.links2linux.de/search?scope=name&q=jack and you will see many hits on packaged plugins/apps for jack. Pulseaudio. There is also development going on with pulseaudio: http://www.pulseaudio.org/ Pulse audio is a sound server (another layer on top of alsa) and I think it might provide the capability you are looking for. Again, packman provide a packaged version of pulse audio: http://packman.links2linux.de/package/pulseaudio Gstreamer. I've also read of references to gstreamer possibly providing what you are looking for in terms of a global equalizer. I think it might be the gst-plugin-bad module that provides this. Non-crippled versions of gstreamer are available from Packman: http://packman.links2linux.de/search?scope...amp;q=gstreamer I've never particularly liked gstreamer (I prefer the xine sound engine) but I confess its been some time since I took a second look at gstreamer. Now I have NOT checked out any of the above for an equalizer. These suggestions may be a wild goose chase. They may not be. So I'll be curious as to what you learn. |

http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Set_up_a_syst...ALSA_and_LADSPA
Seems alsa can do it, never tried it's a gentoo wiki but if you can work out the differences I suspect it can be made to do it on Suse. Unsure about ladspa-swh-plugins seems correct both on packman, perhaps do a wiki page if you succeed suspect many would appreciate it. http://packages.opensuse-community.org/ind...erm=swh-plugins |
