Hi Everyone!
I am new on this forum, I hope somebody could help me with this issue. I was searching on the forum about problems with Banshee with propietary codecs. I found a lot of related issues but nothing like my problem. I am using Opensuse 10.3 with Gnome. To reproduce music and radio station I am using Banshee. My first problem is that I cant add radio station that use mms (Microsoft Media Services) streaming. I guess that I have installed all necesaries codecs to do this (w32codecs from packman repository). I told you this because I also have installed mplayer on my laptop and I am able to play mms radios from it. I also have a similar problem with Totem, I cant play avi files from Totem but I can from Mplayer. I hope that somebody can help me. Thanks in advance and best regards! . I am sorry for my English . |

While I cannot say that I use any MMS files for my Internet radio, I can help and point you in a few directions for files that actually do work. You may wish to look at http://www.di.fm/ and http://somafm.com/ for a few stations. I do not use Banshee, but I do use Rhythmbox, which is another GTK/GNOME music application. I have absolutely no problems with the links from the above sites I keyed into my Rhythmbox Radio list. Hopefully, that will be another option you have in addition to MMS files. Good luck.
Quick edit: Welcome to the forum! |

Thanks for your help Rivenought. But the radio station that I would like to listen, its streaming on MMS only.
I hope that somebody that are using Banshee can help me with mms files. Dont forget that I can listen MMS streaming throw MPlayer, in order to this I guess that codecs are working properly. |

Did you verify to make sure you did the one-click install of the multimedia codecs found from http://opensuse-community.org/Restricted_Formats/10.3 ? Also, make sure you get the latest updates from the Packman repository. Anytime Microsoft formats are involved, it can be a toss-up. Good luck.
