after searching online i can't for the life of me find a way to alter the bitrate in k3b, i also can't find a program which seems very good for doing this on suse (suse 10.3, using kde 3.5.9). can anyone recommend a good ripping program? needs to rip cds to mp3, i must be able to choose bitrate, and preferrably if connected to the net it should be able to get cddb info. and would like it be GUI operated as well. I'm picky i know
cheers, and sorry for asking such a noob question. ive never needed to rip on linux yet, and did yesterday but found k3b to be a little, novice, it does the job though i guess. |

I you only need to rip CDs, k3b has the possibility to change bitrate of mp3. You can also use KAudioCreator, which is designed striclty to rip CDs.
When it comes to changing the bitrate of already ripped MP3, Audacious has the option. Yet, on my PC, the quality of converted files was very poor, but perhaps it was beacuse of LAME configuration, so I suggest, you tried on your own. |

After you choose the file to rip and click "Start ripping", a pop-up window will appear. On the right of the part where you can change file type of files to be ripped, you've got a button to configure the plug-in, and there's the option
