first i would like to thank everyone in advance

most media editing Gui apps in used have only four output resolution settings, i just experimented with DeVeDe, i was faced with the same settings as other's like mandvd etc......

i would like to know of a media editing app that will let me set custom resolutions, or at least one that will detect native resolutions !

the problem, if i take an .avi with a 592 X 320 resolution and encode it to 720 X 480 it looks squished and deformed

thanks again.

avidemux seems to be the winner, it looks as if it will auto detect native resolutions, kino seems to do the same, i am running some tests now

then you must be a encoding n00b. Nothing beats my scripts when it comes to quality encodings

i can pretty much assure you that no current GUIs/other scripts can reach the produced quality of my scripts since they are optimizer to the bone for quality encodings... I'm a pretty experienced encoder and i used options most ppl don't even know they exist... and these are not just words but i can back up my facts with proof, just ask oldcpu or Harry Gunnarsson or Justin Poirier or Army from the Ubuntu forums, or try it out yourself and come back later for a discussion
