You may have noticed that SuSE 9.3 and current releases do not have mp3 and dvd support out of the box. This is for legal reasons, however, there is a way arround it.

What your going to want to do, is add some sources to YAST. See my howto for that. Once you have your YAST sources added, you are going to want to install Mplayer and libxine and Kaffiene. Your system may already have xine-lib installed. You will need to delete those files. YAST should automatically take care of this for you.

I have updated my Multimedia post and now is suitable for 10.1. Storm has changed the original first post to the new one, so, the first post of the thread can be used for 10.1.

Again, the only package not found on SuSE repos is libdvdcss2, but I gave a link to it at the end of the post.

Hi! Experts,

After I have followed the instructions from this website http://www.thejemreport.com/mambo/content/view/254/42/ at the column of "Adding the following internet address to the Server Name field and then click on OK: "packman.unixheads.com/suse/10.1" or "packman.iu-bremen.de". I will have this error message pop-up on my screen ("Signature Check Failed", The file /repodata.xml (http://packman.unixheads.com/suse/10.1) is not digitally signed. This means that the origin and integrity of the file cannot be verified. Using the file may put the integrity of your system at risk. Use it anyway? Do Not Show This Message Again. Yes or No)

So what should I do now? I am using the Suse Linux 10.1 and KDE 3.5.1. Please help me out here. Many Thanks to you.

Typically this means you don't have the rpm-key installed. I recommend you install Packman's rpm-key (and also the rpm-key for any other respository you have added to your software-package manager of choice).

Ok. How do you install Packman's rpm-key in the system? Please forgive me for asking this question because i am very new to Suse Linux.

I was able to install Packman's key this way: (in KDE)

1. Download the rpm from here: rpmkey-packman
2. Browse to download location
3. Right-click on RPM and select "Open With --> Install Software"
4. Enter root password when prompted

It took <1 minute and Software Updater popped up and I clicked on "Install"

case closed

...jade
