1. Download the rpm from here: rpmkey-packman
2. Browse to download location
3. Right-click on RPM and select "Open With --> Install Software"
4. Enter root password when prompted

It took <1 minute and Software Updater popped up and I clicked on "Install"

I installed the Packman key as outlined above, but I still get the error saying the repodata is not signed. Any ideas on how I can correct this?

Thanks...

I worked around this problem by lowering the security requirement for the pacgage manager from signed to checksum. You can do this with sudo using your root password.

Once you've done this you'll be able to add the packman packages; here's the command...

sudo rug set-prefs security-level checksum

All the best!!!!

Are you sure the error for the repodata not installed is for packman? Or is it for Guru repo or another repository?

Also, are you sure the key is installed? Open a konsole and type:
su
rpm -q rpmkey-packman
rpm -q rpmkey-suser-guru

What text output do you get from the above?

Hi
Try installing the packman key, with kpackage, works for me. (if you do not have you will have to install kdeutils3 with YAST).

Too many links provided in the first post, IMO, and a lot of that info is dated and might not specifically be for your openSUSE version. I recommend following this howto, below (from http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/index.ph...owtopic=50480):

This howto is version-agnostic (presuming 10.0+), as the tutorials are demarcated into version sections. Firstly, there is adding the relevant Package Sources:
http://opensuse-community.org/Package_Sources

This will add:
  • Online Source
  • Packman
  • Guru
Once your package sources are enabled, you can then simply install the necessary packages you will require for enabling certain Restricted Formats:
http://opensuse-community.org/Restricted_Formats

This includes:
  • MP3 Playback
  • Playing Encrypted DVDs
  • Playing DiVX/xvid videos, and
  • Windows Codecs
For more information on the openSUSE Community website, check here: http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/in...howtopic=50133
