Hi.
After boot my input devices (Laptop - > keyboard+touch-pad) are not working at the login screen. Then the "Esc for more boot detail" function does not too while booting openSUSE 10.3 But this is only sometimes. In about 2 of 5 cases I don't have this problem. I uploaded some files. Perhaps they can help to find the reason for this and solve the problem. Would like to post some links here (xorg.conf, XServer log), but it says Quote:

It's a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L7300 notebook. ("Designed for WinXP" - I know. But Kubuntu did not have this problems. So it should work with openSUSE 10.3 too?) I hope you can help me. openSUSE would be a great distribution without this problem. |

Firstly thankyou for sharing the solution.
Thx4NoHelp... This is a community, we're volunteers the world is a big place, meaning different time zones, sometimes things just get missed. Other times the person who does know how to solve it may not be frequenting. The secret is if you're not happy then help, it's by doing we change things. So rather than disappearing feeling like the community isn't helpful stay around and help change it. And Welcome to the Community. Hopefully next time a solution maybe more forth coming. |

Perhaps it's better to say say at least "Hi. We've seen that u have a problem, but actually we have no solution for it." then to do nothing.
Then a person new to the community knows "The community is there, but has no solution too". With no answer a newcomer (like me) thinks "Nobody cares.. they are just glad having there own system running without problems.". Yes perhaps I will browse a bit through the forums here and try to help people to solve their problems. But since English is not my native language and I'm a Linux amateur myself you won't see many posts from me probably. So long.

This forum is made up of volunteers, ... ie people like you. Hence any answers will come from people like you. I note you also asked this question on our sister forum, and obtained some efforts to help there. Given a merge is likely coming soon (between the two forums) there is a degree of duplication here in replying with the same thing that is on what is soon to be the same forum. Also, in my case, I was on vacation from mid-April to mid-May, with only intermittent access. I reserved my limited "vacation" bandwidth to posts where I thought I could do the most good. Given you already had help attempts on another forum, and given my limited access, it was not realistic for me to reply. Others probably had their own reasons and other things going on in their life at the time you posted. Sometimes the "timing" just doesn't work out. Now typically, if a user does not see an answer forth coming, then after a few days to a week, simply reply to one's own post and say "bump", and that will cycle the post to the top of the list, and it will have a better chance of being noticed by the volunteers. |
