Hi all.

I am attempting to run multiple O/S's to dedicated multiple HDD's.

1). Open Suse 10.3 to 250GB Maxtor IDE.
2). Windows XP to 250GB Hitachi IDE.
3). Windows Vista to 400GB Western Digital SATA.

I currently have single core AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Venice) but I am hoping to upgrade to Dual Core AMD64x2 later today.

I successfully installed 10.3 yesterday & thought I'd done all right on boot settings, but I now cannot boot the Windoze drives.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Ixuser.

Yes, Windoze were already installed, as well as 10.0 which I couldn't access the internet with (See previous thread). I was running all 3 ok & had no problems on the boot front. I clean installed 10.3 yesterday (re-formatting over 10.0 which didn't have anything on it since I couldn't access the internet) & now I cannot boot the Windoze drives.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

showing us the /boot/grub/menu.lst file may help some users in helping you out.

to open it go to a console, then type

kdesu kwrite /boot/grub/menu.lst

copy all the text and paste it here. DO NOT EDIT IT YET.

ok, now that we have this -- can you do do this, for example
sda1 --windows xp
sdb1 --widows vista
basically just list what OS correspond to what device

if the order of installation was
1) XP
2) Vista
3) suse

then probably you have overwritten vista boot manager you need to restore it

the way I installed windws + linux was always (if using grub as boot manager)
linux on first disk

edit grub add map to make windows believe that nothing changed (disk order) and windows (xp or vista) boot manager is still on disk 1

for vista on second disk it could be something like
title Vista
map (hd1) (hd0)
map (hd0) (hd1)
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
chainloader +1

maybe this will help
