I have installed the Novell boxed 10.0 version from DVD (Making sure that I did not attempt update during installation), however, after I finished the installation I updated & now I cannot access Internet/email.
Any advice please. |

Hi Stig.
I went online for the Automatic updates (I could access Internet before update). As this is my Desktop, I have a cable connection. I've downloaded 10.3 & I think I will install that, maybe I won't get the problem when I update that. Cheers |

Hi Stig.
Well, I've successfully loaded 10.3 to one of my HDD's (250GB) & no problem with losing internet connection after online update. However, I now can't access my other 2 windoze HDD's (Vista 400GB & XP another 250GB), any advice. PS - this is the 1st time I've logged into the forum in SuSE. Cheers |

Hi Stig.
After grub loading, when I select Windows1 or 2 from O/S options I get the following error messages:- Windows1 "rootnoverify (hd1,1)" "chainloader (hd0,0)+1". Windows2 "rootnoverify (hd1,1)" "chainloader (hd2,0)+1". any advice? Cheers PS - Should we re-name this thread? |

oh i see, i thought you meant access as in data, but you mean boot, so you are trying to triple boot as it were. all you should need to do is (it will require a little reading or some help with more knowledgable members of the forum than myself) edit your grub menu.lst file and you fstab file. what is happening is most likely grub is being pointed to the wrong partition of the hard drive, or the boot entry for windows has been over written.
http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_wi...alled_first.htm near the end should be a little useful |

Cheers Stig.
Just to make it clear, these aren't installed on 1 partitioned drive, I have 3 differents O/S's on 3 different HDD's (400GB Western digital SATA [Vista], 250GB Hitachi IDE [XP] & 250GB Maxtor IDE [Open SuSE 10.3]). PS - How's the Hamster. |

from looking at your previous post it looks like it's seeing the bootable drive as your suse drive, and the boot loader is partition 1 (hd 1,1). you may want to check grub menu.lst file and have a look. i think you should create another topic in this forum (install/boot).
what do you mean, how is the hamster? Ross. |
