Having tried for last 5 hours to install suse 10.3 on my laptop (sony vaio vgn-b100), i am restorting to experts on this forum.

It is always hanging at disk partition format process (like at step 7 on install process). Not sure if it has something to do with my laptop or it is just my novice knowledge on open source OS.

Any help from you guys would save me my weekend.

Thanks in advance.

if you have Vista on the laptop you need to use Vista's partitioning tools to create a blank partition first

Alternatively use GParted to do the same. I have successfully used it on Sony Vaio with Vista.

after hearing of so many 'incidents' with vista partitions if i were you follow deltaflyer's advice on using the windows partitioning tool. many have tried with other partitioners to shrink vista partitions and they can get some problems. this is just my view.
