I have a compaq deskpro with 512 mb of memory (pc-133) running opensuse10.1. When I increase the memory to 1 gig, suse will no longer boot. Grub loads and when I select suse 10.1, the screens turns blank and then hangs.

Also, should it be possible to move the hdd to a new pc (dell dimension 3000) and have suse boot? When I tried this, grub does not load and I get an error stating "error loading os". The hdd is a seagate 120 gb.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Moving your hard drive to a different box will be a NO.

Adding memory, should be ok.
However, it does seem to be a problem for you. Try using the install dvd to boot - choose installation and then work your way on to repair.

You may be able to fix it that way.
But it's some time since I used 10.1
There are often Dependency errors if it scans the installed packages, because over time you will have added from 3rd party repos

It appears to be bad memory. Thanks for your reply.
