I have been trying to install opensuse 10.3 as the only operating system on a dell inspiron 5100 laptop.
All the installation goes fine but when it reboots for the first boot it just hangs on a blank screen (after lots of hard disk activity) It may be something to do wtih the graphics card (ATI Radion Mobility 7500) I am not sure I am not able to connect online yet either so won't be able to point and click to any downloads directly from that computer... any other system info is in the manuel under specifications on dell website (sorry this is not letting me post direct links yet!) very grateful for any help that anyone can give |

at the root prompt, try
sax2 -r -m 0=vesa & press enter then try startx that *should* give you basic vesa graphics to get you started & then you can try to sort it out via YaST |
