hello,
i want use openSuSE 10.3 on my vaio vgn-sz640 but my modem is not detect. what should i do?

Firstly what type of modem Serial, pci(Likely win modem) com make and model.

My preferred solution is to buy a $15 usb to serial adapter, and an inexpensive serial modem (try to get a V 92 model). Connect the serial modem to the adapter and boot up. Suse should autodetect the adapter during the boot process (try turning off the splash screen and you should see it detected along with your other usb devices).

Then once you get to the desktop, go Yast /Network Devices / Modem and enter your log in and ISP info and go. Be sure you have kinternet and kppp installed from your install disc. Finally, if you get error messages when trying to dial out, read this post:
