I have two installs one is Novell Enterprise Desktop Linux 10 SP1 and this works fine with my DELL 820
wireless comes up and works fine using the internal wireless abg card. I run my Desktop Linux from
an external USB hard drive and that works fine. I now want to use Suse Enterprise Server 10 SP1
on the same machine, just hosted on a different USB drive. Let me make this clear, this is not
the way I would run a production machine, this is strictly for my development/demo machine. Novell
pre-sales didn't understand that. Back to my problem.... The Enterprise Desktop's YAST2 comes up fine
recognizes the card loads the same kernel module ( supposedly ) and yet doesn't activate the card at all.
Having the wireless capability is crucial, if I'm off site and there is a problem. You can just go to a hot spot and download a patch and you're up and working. No client side firewall problems to contend with to just do a demo. In general I really like the Server version for it's tool set but since the subscription for support and patching is quite a bit of money to pay out of pocket I want to make sure I can do all of the critical items I need before laying down the cash. So if anyone out there can give me the magic bullet to get this up and running I sure would appreciate it. Thanks -mark
