I've just installed openSuSe 10.3 (KDE) on an IBM T41 laptop I have. I remember seeing the listing for hardware support showing that wifi was supported. I did the install while connected via wired connection, but am having trouble with the wifi. I'm still pretty new to Linux having tried a few other distros (Ubuntu, Fedora) and am not sure if I'm missing configuration somewhere.

I've tried searching through the forums but haven't come up with anything I can use. Didn't see anything in the documentations either, I may be missing something so if anyone knows or remembers a link I can take a look at, I'd greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks all.

*Edit: Found a solution for the 3d support.

if this is on-board wifi, post the output of

/sbin/lspci -v from a console, then we can check to ensure you have the correct drivers

so you need to have the madwifi repository enabled & install the madwifi driver. then configure it via YaST - network devices - network cards

Further to what deltaflyer noted,... here is the opensuse wikipage on the Atheros and the madwifi device:
http://en.opensuse.org/Atheros_madwifi

Don't forget to install both "madwifi" and "madwifi-kmp-<yourkernel>" .
And also prior to going yast to configure, send the "modprobe ath_pci" from an xterm/konsole with root permissions.

And the thinkwiki page provides good info on Linux and IBM laptops:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T41

where that link leads you here:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/IBM_11a/b/g_...ini_PCI_Adapter
... with a note that the madwifi should work with this model (T41) IBM laptop.

Thank you both. I'll be following the Wiki and keeping those handy.
