Hi all,

i installed OpenSuse 10.3 on my Medion SIM2000 Notebook. Everythink works fine, except the built in modem. It 's a creatix modem 2.0 AC modem.
lspci says:
Modem: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] AC'97 Modem Controller (rev a0)

Wvdial seems to be able to initialize it, but it can't dial up.
It does the following commands:

ATM1
OK

ATZ ......
OK

then dialup

ATDT********
(some seconds later)
NO CARRIER

thats it. On windows , its working fine.

best regards

Try installing the program KPPP from your install disk. Then try to "query modem" and see if you get AT commands issued or not.

KPPP needs super user permissions to run, unfortunately.

Also, make sure SMPPPD is running in YAST/System/System Services.
