I have a weird problem I have a HP Compaq nx 7300 running Intel 945gm graphics chipset. My 1st install of suse was fine this is my 3rd attempt at a re-install and still I can't get it right. I have decided to run gnome as my gui but while my wallpaper fill's the whole of my laptop screen gnome fills up 3 quarters of it (i.e. the taskbar, maximising window's, fullscreen video's and game's. It's a weird problem which isn't helped by the fact when i try to access sax2 via yast, sax2 either doesn't load or takes 2-3 min's for it's window to appear.

Any idea's please I am picking up suse fast and give it 2-3 month's and Gate's monopoly with me will be finally broken!!!!

I also use KDE, so it's difficult for me to advise but if you go into your gnome-control-centre under the Hardware section you have "Graphics Card and Monitor" and "Screen resolution Options" make sure the resolutions indicated under each settings option is the same.

If you post back kindly provide details of your hardware, graphics card and xorg.conf settings. A screen shot would also be helpfull.
