I have recently loaded SUSE 10.3 on a Sony VGNCR120 laptop. I took it on a trip and found the wireless car connects to wireless networks at various motels, but I cannot get Mozilla Firefox to work.

I checked around and finally got to the Intel/Linux compatibility web site and it said that the Pro/Wireless 4865AG should work with SUSE 10.3.

I have been using computers since 1981, originally DR DOS, then MS-DOS, then windows, but Vista has me running Linux.

Anyway, on the GNOME desktop, a little box pops up and says you are connected to the wireless LAN in the Motel, but then I cannot get Firefox to find the connection. I keep getting: "500 Internal Server Error" when I try and get to the opensuse web site.

I ended up using my wife's old pentium 2 running Windows 2000 to work. She makes fun of my new dual core boat anchor...

Does anyone have any ideas as to why Firefox will not connect?

when connecting in these hotels, did you set Firefox to connect directly or via a proxy ? as sometimes you need to set it up to connect via proxy. i had a similar problem when trying to connect to the school's internet ( i do I.T. support there, I'm not a student )
