Hi,
To my great enjoyment, almost everything on the MSI M662-247 notebook works out of the box. only the modem and wlan need some coaxing, but that took less than half an hour.

The only gripe I have is the webcam. The drivers on the Cd are for a Chicony webcam, so I tried the uvcvideo drivers from svn.

modprobe succeeds, and dmesg says :

Linux video capture interface: v2.00
usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
USB Video Class driver (v0.1.0)

However, there seems to be a problem. no /dev/video device was created, so I peeked and poked about.
Turns out the camera isn't listed with lsusb, as opposed to on the toshiba, where it is.
The only device mentioned (other than usb hubs) is the usb wlan built in.

I know it's a chicony webcam, but the computer isn't detecting it, so uvcvideo can't use it... any suggestions? (This is a linux-only machine, didn't come with an OS on it,so I can't boot to windows to test)

It would be great if I could get the whole thing working on SuSE!

I've analysed the Windows driver files... and the vendor ID should be 0c45...Even if SuSE doesn't know what to do with the webcam, shouldn't it still detect a device at that address?

Update: I'm gonna try booting knoppix to see if it gets detected there by lsusb.

Unfortunately, all signs point to "not supported but coming soon" and the coming soon part has been like so for a while... Please hurry Michael Xhaard!! :-)
Apparently, the device has a Sonix bridge sn9c201 with an OmniView 9650 sensor.
device ID is 0c45:624f...

any further thoughts?
