Thumbs up

Hello,

I read several tutorials and threads about the ltmodem today. I installed the ltmodem from here, as I didn't find it in YaST. Was it the right package? Then I rebooted my computer and apparently the ltmodem driver isn't there. Running 'modprobe ltmodem' reports an error message saying there is no such driver. Appart from that, there is no /dev/ttyLT0 device on my computer.
What should I do next to get my modem to work?
Thanks in advance,

My suggestion is to get a serial modem and connect it to a serial to usb converter. That's what I ended up doing. Winmodems are very nearly impossible to get running in Linux, and even when you do get them running, they are unreliable since they drop connections and just act very flakey.

Total cost of both items should be about $35 American.

Thanks, yes, actually I bought a new modem last week. It's working just fine with no additional driver or tweak
