Hi all. I installed opensuse 10.2 on the laptop of a friend of mine. it is a toshiba Satellite A100-097. All the hardware has been correctly detected and set up, with the exception of the modem, an Agere (lucent) softmodem. It's disappointing because i remember the days when suse 9.3 was able to work whit this chip. Now what happens? i googled for this driver but only found something stated to work whit kernel 2.4 ,and in fact it does not compile. obviously the kernel source and headers are installed. Any help would very appreciated because the internal modem is the only way for my friend to connect to the net. Thank you

As I understand things, the martian tarballs (based on Agere drivers) are used with recent kernels:

Try these:

A recent Lucent (Agere) modem success story using the martian driver:

Let us know how you get on. Good luck.
