external LCD monitor dell 6000 xinerama i815 915gm
dell 6000 1280x800 external 1680x1050 clone

running suse 10.0 on dell 6000 with 915gm intel graphics,
uses i815 drivers, laptop has 1280x800, got that to work,
xternal, 1680x1050 lcd, I can clone both to 1280x800,
but if I boot, booth have 1024x768 and panning,.....
xinerama , can not enable it ??? argh,....
can't run the external only eather, ??
have no problems in windows, to extend my desktop,....

anybody have this running with an intel graphics i815,
and external LCD monitor 1680x1050 or different resolution from laptop screen ?
once it's in this panning mode,... sax2, always test and saves in 1024x768,
have to literally unplugg the external, remove xorg.conf, init 3 , sax2 from scratch,...
1280x800 , init 5, plug external monitor in function key to switch, to clone,
to have at least 1280x800 on external.... and mouse scroll is gone,...
if I run yast to add scrolling for the mouse, got 1024x768 panning again,....argh....
have not had time for 10.1 still running suse 10.0,....
for now guess windoze will work,.... still frustrating
appriciate any help pointer tricks,
thanks, Robert

in order to use the external LCD,
I got to boot without the VGA cable,
otherwise the desktop is 1024x768, with panning,
then, plug the external LCD in , and FN F8,...
at least get 1280x800,....
still a waste, since it's a 1680x1050,....
anybody else got an laptop with intel graphics,
working in higher resolution ?

appriciate any help pointer tricks,
thanks, Robert
