Anyone have one of these wonderful machines? I have a slightly older one (ATI7500 card)

I was wondering if you had any tips in setting it up to run smoothly

I own a T40 with SuSE 10.0 installed on it (no windows). Install went perfectly, havent really messed with the ATI drivers (never had good luck with them, and dont really need 3d support). Wireless card was detected and configured properly during install as well.

Any other questions, feel free to ask!

(Btw: Good choice of a laptop )

I have a T42 and as Flipout said, no problem is installing and configuring SUSE on it. It is my main machine and I am using it at work into a window driven domain and everything works fine. Wireless, samba sharing, printing even 3D on ATI 9600 card. No problem installing the latest ATI drivers. The fonts were a bit changed after I did the installations but at least I have the 3ddesktop up and running so I can impress my windows users colleagues

Function keys work preety well after loading the thinkpad related packges SUSE is shipped with.

Now I am a bit cancerned about the policy of lenovo who decide to not support linux anymore (got a special agreement with billy-boy on promoting a kind of operating system  ). Typical MS deals

So good luck with your system

Have a T40. It's my primary machine. SuSE 10.0 installed without a hitch. You'll love the laptop. It's one of the nicest I've owned. Too bad about Lenovo's dropping of Linux support. Ignore that little sticker on your laptop, the one that says "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP".
