Well,
it is not always possible to buy a laptop suitable with the Novell wishes. At this subject all my hopes are in the new Novell COO. I need a laptop with a really good quality sound: in my case, the most appropriate is Targa. The new model is 836W_MT34. The CPU is a Turion. The motherboard is like by the past model 856 and also made by ATI.
No problem by installing Suse 10.0 32 bit, just irqpoll on setup. By attempting to install the 64 bit version and despite disabling everything, the installer hangs: it doesn’t even recognise the touchpad. On the other hand, under Suse 32 multimedia is on this laptop of poor quality.

Has somebody any serious idea about resolving my install issue?

Impossible? Well, Debian AMD64 seams to install perfectly, here the link:

WARNING
I have many reasons to suspect Suse of handling improperly at least Turion microprocessors. In a group of 4 identic laptops, the only one with installed Suse 64 got 4 times the motherboard burned. Until today, the other 3 laptops work like new ones. Check the link above to learn about modules avoiding the problem. Furthermore, my attempt to get assistance during 90 days after purchasing Suse was unsuccessful: they did never answer. No comment…
