I recently installed the suse 10 on my Ibm thinkpad t42. Everything works fine out of box. However, the monitor doesn't perform as well as i expected. The resolution is 1024*768 with color of 16.7 mio. 24 bit. The screen doesn't look as bright and clear as it looks on windows xp. And it responses slowly when switching between different windows.
Is it the way it is or I should upgrade the driver? the video card is ATI Radeon 7500. Thanks, |

ati instructions: http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/ati-installer-HOWTO.html opensuse: http://en.opensuse.org/ATI_Driver_HOWTO Here is one for suse-10.0 http://linux.wordpress.com/2005/10/11/suse...s-installation/ This is just the "tip" of the iceburg for instructions. Needless to say, this is not something a nvidia user will bother wading through. ... I recommend you try one of these (or others) on your own, and form your own opinion as to which is best. |
