So I decided to finally enter the world of Linux by installing SUSE Linux 10.1 on my Thinkpad T21. The installation went fine except for the WiFi PCMCIA card, which is a Lucent Technologies Orinoco Gold.
From dmesg:
pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0 eth0: Hardware identity 0001:0001:0004:0002 eth0: Station identity 001f:0001:0008:0048 eth0: Firmware determined as Lucent/Agere 8.72 eth0: Ad-hoc demo mode supported eth0: IEEE standard IBSS ad-hoc mode supported eth0: WEP supported, 104-bit key eth0: MAC address 00:02:2D:50:23:77 eth0: Station name "HERMES I" eth0: ready eth0: index 0x01: Vcc 5.0, irq 3, io 0x0100-0x013f pcmcia: Detected deprecated PCMCIA ioctl usage. pcmcia: This interface will soon be removed from the kernel; please expect breakage unless you upgrade to new tools. pcmcia: see http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kern...cia/pcmcia.html for details. ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
I visited the page on kernel.org, but it very quickly went over my head. I'd appreciate any help... Thx! -daveP |
