I've been running Suse 10.0 on my Dell D810 laptop for a few months now, with no major complaints (besides ACPI and VMware, but that's another story...). However, there is one thing that has been annoying me.

When my laptop boots up, my wired NIC detection fails every time. However, when my system finishes booting up, I can log in, run Yast, click on Network Devices, and it detects and properly sets up my wired NIC with no problems at all. The PCI bus reported during boot is the same as what is listed in Yast as well. The profile I typically use is a wired profile with a static IP.

There is a bit more background to this, however. I have 5 different profiles for different network situations (WEP wireless, Wired, etc.). I have a feeling that the NIC boot detection only quit working after I set up these profiles.

Suse is not my strong suit, but I like it. Anyone have a good place to start when troubleshooting this?
