Oddly enough, I had SuSE 9.0 and then 9.1 working on a Thinkpad 240 without issue... pretty much everything worked OOTB. It has since died, but that was years ago, and not linux-related

The hardest part is getting it to boot from something you can install from... What I had the greatest success with was booting from the external floppy, then doing a FTP install. This requires an external floppy drive and an common network PC Card (which you will need to load the appropriate module for). I had an Intel PRO/100 or something like that. The other option is using this method with a drive on a networked puter, which I also had some success with, though honestly FTP install is easier if you have a decent connection. Make sure you set your desktop to 800x600, or you'll get pixel stuttering all over the place. ~Loki
