Hi everyone,
I've been looking for a cheap 'workhorse' notebook for the past few weeks. The smaller the better. I finally found something I like, for the right price - the Acer TravelMate 2423.
However, Linux compatibility is critical for me, as I'll be using the notebook exclusively with SUSE 10.0 (and 10.2, 10.2 etc. as they are launched). XP will be wiped off the HD as soon as I unpack the thing.
With that in mind, here are a question and a topic for further discussion:
Does anyone have any Linux experience with this particular notebook, or more generally with the TravelMate 2400 series? Are there any compatibility issues? (I really need a fully funcional notebook).
And, as a more general discussion, what are the most linux friendly notebooks out there? Any particular brands I should watch out for?
I know this is a newbie topic but since I made the switch in 2004 I've only bought hardware that offers Linux drivers or is fully compatible with Linux, hence my concern - a new notebook is a big investment for me, even a cheap Celeron 'book like that TravelMate, and I can't afford to get this wrong!
Thanks in advance for your views on the issue.
