Hello,
This is my first post on the forum so please accept my apologies if I am posting to a wrong place. I have a USR Maxg pcmcia card on my Toshiba SP6100 notebook. Let me tell you what I did: ndiswrapper -i USRMAXG.inf Installing usrmaxg ndiswrapper -l Installed ndis drivers usrmaxg invalid driver! when I try ndiswrapper -e usrmaxg.inf I receive Driver usrmaxg.inf is not installed. Use -l to list invalid drivers and I get nothing. Switching to KDE Menu->System->Monitor->PCI I see my card as 03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11 Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) Subsystem: US Robotics: Unknown device 0119 Flags: fast devsel, IRQ 11 Memory at 26000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=8K] lsmod output gives me ndiswrapper 157716 0 Thinking naively that I have ndiswrapper in lsmod output, that I can trick the computer, I tried to configure my wireless adapter as told in the opensuse forum. I have set up my network card with module = ndiswrapper and user controlled, I booted my system. During boot time, I have seen the message loadndisdriver: loadndisdriver: load_driver(333): coudln't find valid drivers files for driver usrmaxg loadndisdriver: loadndisdriver: load_driver(358): couldn't load driver usrmaxg So if ndiswrapper could install the driver, then I could start my wireless card. This is not the ndiswrapper forum ok, but I'm stuck with this and I can't get out. The funny thing is that I didn't receive these messages when I boot my system from Knoppix 3.6 !!! Seems like I am having problems with my beloved Suse. Is there anyone who can help me? Regards, Chief |

this is the chipset your card uses Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11 Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)
you need the bcmwl inf,sys & cat files for ndiswrapper. rather than reinvent the wheel, i will direct you to andrew18's site for a very good ndiswrapper howto andy |

Hi again,
I solved my problem with the assistance of rshaw on linuxquestions.org Let me write it for the other people... Go to website: ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/...20_5020/driver/ Download 80211g.zip unzip and change into the directory that you have unzipped ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5a.inf this will install the driver for US Robotics USR Maxg card Follow the link in the previous post by deltaflyer to finalize the installation in your suse lappy |
