Hi,
I need help with Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG wlan-card. YaST2 asks me to install ipw-firmware when configuring the card. I have tested versions 5.6 and 7.2 but neither one is working. After installing ipw-firmware drivers also my wired card, Broadcom Corp. NetXtreme BCM5788 Gigabit Ethernet, stops working. I can't ping my DSL-router. DHCP fails with both cards and static settings doesn't work either. I'm using Suse 10.0. My router is Zyxel 660HW-61. I had a same kind of problem with ubuntu too but both cards work fine under win xp. I'd really like to get rid of windows, so I would appreciate any help. |

Strange I have laptop with tha same Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG wlan-card with SuseLinux 10.0 installed on it. And the wlan card works out of the box. Only thing I had to do was configure it with the encryption etc. used on my wlan.

i had to uninstall the ipwfirmware that came with suse 10 install and replaced that with v1.06. after installing that firmware, configure via Yast your wireless devices. only downside, which up to now i have not found a solution, is that i have to manually ifdown wired/wireless then ifup wireless manually whenever i start my pc.

Boknoy or someone else -- can you please explain to me step-by-step super newb style how to install the latest IPM driver/firmware for Intel 2200BG? I found the drivers on Intels site, but I don't know what to do with them. If this were Windows, I would know exactly what to do. Am using Asus S5N laptop with 2200BG wireless card built-in. Thank you
