maybe it's because you've never booted with acpi=on, but I'm just guessing..

well, when i did boot without acpi=off, the computer crashed and i had to start in "safe mode". so i don't really know what to do with it now.

did you tried these booting options?
PCI=NOAPCI APM=OFF or
NOAPIC NOLAPIC ACPI=ON APM=OFF
I don't know what do they mean exactly but maybe... or try to start new topic with more explicit name like "no /proc/acpi/ directory" or something like that

I only tried pci=noacpi part of the first one.

that still crashed my computer, which is why i used acpi=off apm=off
