Hey all again

I have now sorted my login problem and have downloaded the nvidia driver package and want ot install it, and just need to know a few things before i start.

1) do i have to be out of x when doing the driver installation or can i do it from within a konsole windlow?
2) the kernel sources that i have installed are for 2.6.11, (was only 455kb) is that the correct one ?

Any other info that i should be fore warned of before i start would be grateful otherwise i do more damage.

I have suse 9.3 and did first try to do the driver download from YOU and does not seem to work.

Thanks

Yep,

if you are installing the driver from nvidia site, you have to close your X.

I think the sources are ok.

Also what you can try is to install the driver that comes via YOU update.
(I have done it via YOU)
if you end up with green screen, you can find a solution here in the forum

The kernel source is definitely not right. The source for the 9.2 version was almost 40MB. The 9.3 equivilant has not been released on the public mirrors. My 9.3 boxed version has a source package CD that contains this RPM. Be sure to view the Nvidia How-To for your SuSE version before proceeding with the installation.

Ok thanks all for the info, as i now have funtioning 3d. If others want to know what i did this is as follows:

Downloaded the driver from the nvidia website and then booted 9.3 in safe mode option on the grub screen and that takes to a console window. Then from there log in as root and locate where you saved the file you downloaded from nvidia and launch it and then follow on screen instructions and after nvidia driver installed, go back to console and then run sax2 to enable the 3d support and any other possible configurations, like screen res and size. Then once all configured and saved, reboot and start suse in normal mode startup

Am back again and now wondering how to get the tv out port activated if i should want to wach a dvd on the tv. I know that i have seen when suse shutsdown that it says something about the tv out port being disabled. Are there any tools to activate the tv out port. I saw when i was trying unbuntu, that in totem that there was an option for the toshiba nvidia tv out port.

Thanks
