A new install of 9.3 on my HP ZX5040US laptop I'm having trouble getting the modem to dialup to my dialup ISP.

Windwows configures the modem as a Agere Systems AC’97 and it works fine on my dual boot install.

Suse detects the modem as Hewlett Packard Company IXP AC97 Modem Configured as modem0 with provider My Dialup Provider.

When I launch Kinternet and pick Dial in I don't get a connection.

Kinternet log says:

trying to connect to smpppd
connect to smpppd
Status is: disconnected
Status is: connecting
Status is: disconnecting
Status is: disconnected
pppd[0] died: pppd options error (exit code 2)

Can someone help me troubleshoot this?

Got a 3Com 3cxm556 for $17 US and it works right out of the box :-)

Disabled my internal modem.

Set my internal NIC card detailed setting in Yast to on cable connect and now I can hot swap, modem, Proxim Orinoco Gold wireless NIC or remove both and plug in my 10/100 ethernet cable and all work together perfectly.
