So the system recognizes my laptops hardware (Packard Bell E5148) well, except for two things. A card reader and a pcmcia slot. They both seem to work, but how do I reach them with mc or a konqueror?

Moreover, when I insert a pcmcia Compact Flesh card adapter, I hear a beepand then my processor chokes. I noticed hwscan (or hwscand..can't remember) causes choking and it cannot be killed. It all goes back to normal when I pull the pcmcia adapter out.

I've been using 9.0, 9.1 and now 9.2 with the same disappointment when it comes to those two devices. I asked for help, but people didn't know.

Any help for me?

Well, I just found a workaround for a similar problem. My problem= cf card in Zaurus PDA could not be read in Suse9.2 Dell D800 laptop. Card beeps twice on insert, but no mount.
Fix = after creating entry in etc/fstab, mount point with mkdir
fdisk /dev/hde1
quit
mount /dev/hde1

All is well!

Dunno why it works, but it does. Luck to ya

This is interesting. Tell me..how did you know that hde1 would work? I suppose something similar would solve both of my problems (the second is regarding onboard PCI card rader).

How do I know which hd? to make for PCMCIA and which one for PCI card reader?
