Thinkpad T20 missing | key

I have just purchased an old T20 Thinkpad of Ebay and have installed 9.2 without a single hitch, amazing all that work and no rebooting!

My problem is:
I have a German qwertz Keyboard and do not want to change to a UK/US qwerty one because I touch type. I cannot find the "|" (no not I)key. Does anyone know a work round for the missing key?

Seems to suggest trying the alt key with some of the number keys?
