Hello, i've installed Suse Linux 9.2 on my compaq Armada E 500.

Every thing works fine apart the sound level buttons.

When i use the sound level buttons on the front side of my laptop, the system freezes.

The only thing i can do is to turn off with power button and reboot.

I have no problem when using kmix or alsamixergui.
I did'nt have any problem when i used Fedora, Mandrake or Debian.

Any suggestion will be welcome.

Hi,

Are you using the kernel or ALSA drivers?

I didn't install any driver from Alsa, I just used Yast to configure the soundcard with default settings.

I have just changed the clock with 50000, but it did'nt change anything. <_<

I've searched Alsa drivers on the 9.2 CD's but i didn't find them.

I suppose i have to download them.

Sorry for all this time without answer ...

I tried many things (new drivers, fine tuning of the card in Yast, ...) but the problem is already there.
Thank you for the link to the Suse support database, but i can't do anything with the explanations there because the configuration of the 9.2 distro is absolutly different from the 7.3 version. Some files doesn't exist anymore, others are empty ...

But i'm very surprised of one thing, even if i disable this sound card, the system hangs when i touch on sound volume button.

I thing it's a kernel problem because, i installed an other distro (Novell ;-) ) and the problem disapeared and when I reinstalled Suse 9.2, the problem came back.

May be i have to try a new kernel ? <_<
